The current farm machinery testing fee schedule across every FMTTI and FMTC

The Ministry's applicable category-wise testing charges for FY 2025-26 — where power tiller testing, self-propelled reaper testing, power weeder testing, and battery sprayer testing each sit, and how this schedule relates to a single centre's own detailed pricing.

Most testing-fee references an OEM finds are scoped to a single machine, a single centre, or a single notice. The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare's Mechanization & Technology Division has published something broader: a category-wise schedule of currently applicable testing charges across every FMTTI and FMTC in the country. This guide is the companion to our SRFMTTI power tiller testing fee budgeting guide — that one goes deep on one centre's detailed, test-by-test power tiller pricing; this one covers the national category-wise baseline that sits alongside it, including where power weeder testing, power reaper testing, and battery sprayer testing each fall.

The Office Memorandum

Issued under F.No. 13-14/2020-M&T(I&P)(C-82979), dated 31 January 2025, this Office Memorandum from the Ministry's Mechanization & Technology Division set out the testing charges applicable for agricultural machinery and equipment tested at FMTTIs and FMTCs, effective 1 April 2025 for FY 2025-26. It went to the Directors of all four FMTTIs (Budni, Hisar, Anantapur/Garladinne, and Biswanath Chariali), to every FMTC's Principal Investigator/In-charge, and to the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association (AMMA).

Where this schedule sits next to a single centre's own pricing

Battery sprayer testing vs power-operated sprayer testing

The schedule prices these as two distinct brackets rather than one generic "sprayer" line:

Plant protection equipment categoryApplicable testing fee (₹)
Manual / Battery Operated (battery sprayer testing)69,732
Power Operated (engine-driven sprayers, mist blowers, and similar)1,83,102

The power-operated bracket costs roughly two-and-a-half times the manual/battery bracket — consistent with the additional engine-performance and mechanical-reliability testing a powered unit requires over a manual or battery-operated one.

GST and how long the schedule holds

All charges in the schedule are exclusive of GST, applied separately where relevant — the Office Memorandum doesn't fix a rate, so confirm the applicable GST treatment with the specific testing centre.

Building a category-wise budget

For an OEM testing across several categories in one programme — say a power tiller, a battery sprayer, and a tractor-drawn implement — this schedule gives a workable planning baseline for each, while the SRFMTTI-style detailed schedules (where they exist) give the more precise, test-by-test figure for a specific machine at a specific centre. The sound approach is to use this national schedule for early-stage budgeting and category comparison, then request the centre's own current, itemised quote once a target centre and test regime are confirmed for each machine.

Where this fits in the wider certification picture

For components and machinery needing the ISI mark, see our guide to BIS / FMCS certification for agricultural machinery. For tractors and any variant intended for road registration, CMVR type-approval runs alongside FMTTI testing rather than replacing it — covered in our tractor & farm machinery homologation guide.

Frequently asked questions

'Power tiller drawn/self-propelled reaper, Power Weeder etc.' is priced as one combined bracket at ₹1,21,961, exclusive of GST, under the Ministry's category-wise schedule for FY 2025-26. This is a different figure and a different scope from SRFMTTI Garladinne's own detailed, per-test-item power tiller schedule, which totals ₹4,07,478 under a separate testing regime — the two aren't meant to be compared directly without first confirming which one applies to your programme.
